HouseBaked by Michel Rousseau

29/09/2010

This scene was for a long time an internal reference at Vertice. Technology is nowadays sufficient to reveal this DirectX 10 demonstration. The shadows are rendered on textures, but observe how the grass, the sheets of the trees and the surface of the water in the swimming pool move.

The 3ds Max source files of this demonstration are downloadable here. That file can export the scene HouseBaked for NOVA.

Rights of use:
The source files are provided "as is". Vertice can not be considered as responsible for malfunction, or loss of datas from your computer while using those sources. Those files are delivered free from known viruses.

All those source files are and remain the entire property of the compagny VERTICE and of their owners and authors. You can not use those files or part of those files without explicit agreement from VERTICE, exept for educationnal purpose. You can not sell, share, reuse, distribute, give those source files are part of those files.

Sources context:
These files show an architectural mockup, intended to be used with NOVA 2010. That demo is best viewed with the DirectX 10 provider.

Speaking about fonctionnalities, you may want to have a particular glance at those points:

  • The Space Warp system that controls the grass in the garden, the tree branches and the pool surface. Note : You don't need to animate the space warp to have an animation in NOVA.
  • The Lens Flare with one big Flare, in order to simulate the glare, if you look to the sun directly.
  • The pool surface and its material.
  • The render to texture work, done with Mental Ray, baked into the ambiant channel of the materials.
  • The collision system (see the NOVA Properties of the object which names are beginning by Coll, the NOVA Properties of the scene, and the NOVA Properties of the camera).

Windows Café by Michel Rousseau

13/09/2010

This demonstration was created with an aim to promote the Parisian Windows Cafe, opened for the launch of Windows 7.

Microsoft needed an innovative and up to date technology to display this model on a multi-touch platform (which is the case in the multi-touch version of this demonstration), but also optimized to run on the harware used, a Microsoft Table Surface.

MTC by Michel Rousseau

12/09/2010

This scene was created so that Microsoft can communicate with its partners on his new technical centre of the DataCenter type.

This representation was very technical, as the full version integrates a module allowing to receive on the displays of the bays of the servers some information in real-time about the temperature and the voltage of the bays and thus to launch visual and sound alarms.

All this scene was created from photographs and of maps.

Valencia (Spain) High Speed Train (TGV) station by Proin3D

01/07/2010

The ADIF, Administrator of the Spanish Railway Infrastructures, makes discover the future TGV station of Valencia (Spain) thanks to a real-time 3D modeling realized with the NOVA for 3ds Max of VERTICE solution, solution of creation and visualization of interactives 3D contents.

GOAL

To prepare its presence to the 30th edition of the FITUR in Madrid (International fair of Tourism), the ADIF (Administrator of the Spanish Railway Infrastructures) wished to offer to the public a virtual interactive 3D model representing the future high-speed station of Valencia.

CHOICE

PROIN 3D, intervening for the ADIF, adopts the NOVA 2009 solution of VERTICE to create an interactive model of future TGV station of Valencia.

Before the real-time realization, PROIN 3D was charged to conceive and realize for the ADIF a 3D film presenting the project of the station. All the 3D modelings and animations were done with the 3ds Max and Vray. The move to real-time was done with NOVA 2009 of VERTICE, after a large work of optimization of the 3D model and its textures. In spite of a plural offer on the 3D market, three reasons justify the choice of the NOVA 2009 of VERTICE solution:

  • Its compatibility with 3ds Max, main 3D tool of ADIF.
  • Its quality of rendering (shadows and reflexions), its ease of use and the no Royalties commercial policy.
  • The customer assistance ensured by VERTICE.

In order to improve this 3D experience, the real-time project - allowing an immersion in the future infrastructure of the LGV LEVANTE - was projected at the show on a 6 meters diameter circular screen. Not less than 210.000 visitors present this year thus could discover and evolve in the real-time 3D scene using a joystick.

BENEFIT

“It is a big innovation in Spain in term of 3D applied to the infrastructures. With the appearance of this new tool, the decision makers and the clients foresee for certain projects broader perspectives to communicate with the populations, for their public dialogues,” explains Bernard Bressy, in charge of the commercial development of PROIN 3D.

The ADIF finds, through real-time, a new way of communicating, a powerful and ludic tool because it is interactive. It is a complementary tool, which does not have the role to replace the informative videos already used for the presentation of projects.

The real-time 3D project of the TGV station of Valencia is thus a true success which should allow the opening of new markets.

Scene of Countryside by Kevin Reniaud

01/06/2010

Description of the scene by the author:

" This first work illustrates a small countryside environment. Sources of the project? The garden and materials of the grandfather assembled with pretty images taken on the edge of the road.

On the technical side, it is my first real-time environment made with Nova. From the textures point of view, I employed at the same time a mix of diffuse-lightmap and complete map for the quite specific objects. Some normals maps then come to raise the whole.

Lastly, and because there is always a time for advertising in all waht we see, I invite you to visit my blog (more or less up to date). You will find some professional, personal and student work. In the same way, as a 3D graphics designer, I am always interested by some professional proposals and will be pleased to introduce myslelf to you.

Good the visit and see you soon for a new "in ball" project.

Kevin

Note:
- Navigation: Z, Q, S, D
- If any problem of framerate, " A" to stop the animations."

AudiTT by Michel Rousseau

10/04/2010

This demonstration is the flagship of NOVA 2010. Indeed, it gathers all that makes the strenghths of the NOVA range: high-quality graphic thanks to DirectX 10, high interactivity (change of colour, lighting of the headlights, change of camera), new Post-processes (depth of field), new management of the real-timeshadows, great ability to edit (Design mode).

The 3ds Max source files of this demonstration are downloadable here. That file can export the scene AudiTT.Max for NOVA.

Rights of use:
The source files are provided "as is". Vertice can not be considered as responsible for malfunction, or loss of datas from your computer while using those sources. Those files are delivered free from known viruses.

All those source files are and remain the entire property of the compagny VERTICE and of their owners and authors. Sources context:
These files show a car model mockup, intended to be used with NOVA 2010. That demo is best viewed with the DirectX 10 provider.
Speaking about fonctionnalities, you may want to have a particular glance at those points:

  • The compagnion scene file and the 3d interface concept.
  • The real time shadowing (have a look at the NOVA Properties of the Direct01 light source, and to its 3dsmax properties, especially the inclusion list).
  • The several Per pixel materials used for the car body.
  • The modifier used for the car body (NOVA Material Switcher). See how to use it with the Actions Builder inside the Compagnion scene.
  • The management of the collisions (see the selection set Coll).
  • The constrained camera (Camera02) and its Depth of field post process shader (in the NOVA Properties of that camera).

House RTShadows by Michel Rousseau

09/04/2010

Further in the technology with this demonstration, which uses again the geometry of "HouseBaked" , but with adding a cursor allowing to change the position of the sun, and thus the influence of the shadows in real time. Caution: this demonstration is rather dependent on your hardware.

Veyron 2010 by Michel Rousseau

07/04/2010

With NOVA 2010, you can completely edit a 3Dscene. In this scene, if you switch to Design mode, you will be able to easily modify the color, but also the reflectivity and the specular of the materials. Note that the reflectivity is set up via the parameters of Fresnel.

Destroyed Mini by Michel Rousseau

06/04/2010

This scene is more a private joke than a true demonstration. However, immerse into the scene , make the light change, observe its influence on the shadows on the grass. You will be able to then feel the potential of NOVA in DirectX 10 version.

Yacht by Laurent Vicherd

19/11/2009

Words from the artist, Laurent Vicherd :

"I am a 3D designer. After working in the Game Industry and doing different works for Architects, I decided to specialize in real time projects creation.

Project presented:

This project presents a luxury boat in a virtual visit. Inspired from a real boat, this 16 meters long boat has been recreated nearly as in the reality. Whiile respecting the low poly constraints, I have focused on the quality of the presented model.

The user can change the color of the boat and of the seats as well as the colors of the wood deck.

In order to navigate easily, I have created pre-animated camera displacements that can be easily launched on a simple click through the interface.

Finally, the real time shadows and other special effects, as the sun reflection, increase the realism of this scene."

Saunier Duval by Jean-Baptiste BARON from BARON Studio

25/09/2009

Words from the artist, Jean Baptiste Baron:

"I am a freelance specialized in the creation of 3D images and animations. The 3D expertise that BARON Studio offers (www.baronstudio.fr) is based an a professional experience which has started in 2000.

The project presented here:
This project has been realized for the company Saunier Duval, creator and manufacturer of  boilers and heating systems. The problematic was to offer a tool for internal technical vizualisation for demonstrations, training et creation of prespective 3D images of this new technical element.

The 2 challenges were:

  • to realize in a very short time a Low-Poly version of the CAD model given by the client
  • to provide a solution for the diffusion of this model

The NOVA technology has proved to be complete, easy and quick for the prodiuction of this project."

Straight 6 by Michel Rousseau from Vertice

08/07/2009

This new demo from Michel Rousseau illustrates one of the main new functionalities of Nova for 3ds Max SR1: the 3D sound. Get near from the engine and the sound is increasing. Click on the interface on the left and increase the rpm of the engine.

This demo is a good way to discover, through a simple real time application, how a straight 6 engine works and illustrates the capacity of Nova in industrial simulation.

3ds Max 2009 source file used to generate the Straight6.exe Nova 2009 scene by Michel Rousseau from Vertice

Residence by Alain Philippe from 3DCarré

05/05/2009

3Dcarré is a company specialized in real time 3D, rendering and compositing.

3Dcarré is also a training company for 3dsMax & Nova (Alain PHILIPPE is the only Autodesk Certified trainer in France).

The project presented here has been realized in 3 steps:
- Modeling and texturing in 3dsMax
- Rendering of the persperctives with Mental Ray
- Backing of the Textures and conversion of the scene to real time 3D thanks to Nova

The client wanted some still images (Perspectives) of photo-realistic quality, and a real time interactive 3D visualization. The challenge was to create real time with a quality as near as possible to the still images rendering. Nova has been the perfect tool for this job.

The client's project has consequetly benefitd from a complete highlight.
